1/2 cup moong dhal,
1/2 cup toor dhal,
potato-1 or 2,
carrot – 1,
small onions -10,
tomato – 3 chopped,
turmeric powder, chilli powder & sambhar powder – as required.
Dhania seeds- 2 tea spn,
Cumin seeds – 1tbspn,
Grated coconut – 3/4 cup,
Small onions 5 or 6.
Dry roast the dhania & cumin seeds transfer to the mixie jar. Add little oil roast the grated coconut & grind all along with the small onions.
Pressure cook both the dhal along with potato, carrot and small onions.
Heat the kadai, add little oil & temper it with urad dhal,mustard seeds & curry leaves. Add the chopped tomatoes & saute it for 3min. Now add the cooked dhal & grinded ingredients add sufficient water, add turmeric powder, chiili powder, sambhar powder & salt.
Once the sambhar starts to boil add the cooked vegetables to it & allow it boil for 5min. Turn off & now add asafoetida powder & garnish it with coriander leaves. Your tiffin sambhar is ready to serve.
This sambhar goes well for idly, mini idly, dosa & the best with venpongal.
